About Homelessness

An integral part of the Coalition's planning efforts is the collection of data and information relating to the homeless population in Hillsborough County as well as the housing and services available for them.

Towards this end, the Coalition conducts a census of homeless individuals and families every two years. As a part of the planning process for the census, the Coalition evaluates the methods that were used in the preceding year to collect and analyze data and information, and explore various alternatives to help refine and improve what it is doing. The data and information are used internally to monitor the Coalition’s progress in ending homelessness as well as to identify gaps and needs remaining in the local Continuum of Care system.

In addition, the data and information are submitted annually to the State of Florida to include in a report to the State legislature.
