    Homeless and formerly homeless youth share their stories at the Homeless Youth Forum.

     

     

     

    Six homeless and formerly homeless youth shared their stories with an audience of more than 250 people on June 13, 2012.  This event, the first of it's kind in our community, raised awareness to the issue of unaccompanied homeless youth in Hillsborough County.  For many of the youth it was the first time they had shared their stories.  The event was also the platform of the ceremonial bill signing of HB 1351, the Unaccompanied Youth Bill.  Governor Scott signed the bill into law, making it so unaccompanied minors can gain access to birth certificates and other vital records, allowing them access to services they might otherwise not be able to receive.
